So my brother forwarded me an ad on craislist looking for people who want to be on this new show on HGTV called "Secrets from a Stylist". It's with the woman who won Design Star, her name is Emily. So, I emailed the contact on the craigslist ad, and somebody replied "yeah, send us a video, make sure to do this do that". So great, Andy, Jason and I went to the Rosebowl for a good backdrop to video tape why I should be on the show. I like this, this would work for the living room, we like this style ect. We were there for about three hours and were about to leave. We had our footage and it was fun. So I was checking out some pots and this lady was standing there with blonde hair and I was sort of convinced so I asked Andy if it was Emily from the show. He said no and sort of wondered off. So I asked her "hey are you Emily" and she said "yes" and I go "CONTRATULATIONS ON WINNING THE SHOW.. how exciting!!" and she was super responsive.. I said OUT OF all these people, 9 million in LA, I run into you .. I am here auditioning and taping for your show!! And she was like WHAT!! So she asked what room I was thinking would be good for her show and I said kitchen.. and she said "don't do that, we don't do kitchens" then I said "OK, what about a living room, we were thinking about adding some built in book shelves, and some.... " and she cut me off and said "we don't really do any construction or builing". So I said "so you basically just throw down a rug over the floor" as a joke, and she took me wrong and said "no....." with some silence after. She said "have you seen the show" .. Me "yeah" and she goes "what did you think" and I said "it was okay" and she said "okay?" and I go Yeah,.. I think she wanted me to be super impressed.. She basically said there were other shows out there .. other than hers.. she said "good luck" and walked away... YIKES, I blew it!!!

Last night, Beth and I went to get a movie at Hollywood video. We were checking out and this person working there screamed out to his coworker "OH MY GOD, THIS GUY HAS OVER $100 in late fees!" I was waiting for Beth and noticed a bucket full of pickles near the security device. They were for sale. I said "Who the heck is buying pickles at a video store?" and the attendant said "the last guy in here bought four of them" and handed me his receipt. According to the receipt, he paid cash.

Saturday morning, I wanted to do get junk for my house, get my air fixed in my car, get a haircut, etc. On the way to getting my shoes fixed, I stopped at a beauty school in Redondo Beach which had a sign in the window for $6.00 haircuts. Beth was gonna get her back of her head trimmed, but once she saw the insides, decided to go for something a little less permanent - fingernail painting. The person who took our names at the front desk barely spoke English and insisted about three times that we were both getting haircuts until this lady on his left explained to him "HAIRCUT" (pointing to me) "FINGERNAILS" pointing to Beth. I was escorted to my chair where the lady took about 8 minutes to wrap some tissue paper around my neck. She said "alright? alright?" She then straped my cape on and fiddled around with her sheers. She barely knew how to turn on the buzzers. Once they were up and running, she shoulted over the grinding "WHAT NUMBER?" referring to the guard that goes on the mini-machine. I dont know, i hate questions like that. Wouldn't she know better? I said one just to have her stop saying "WHAT NUMBER" over and over. She worked slowly until her teacher stepped in and rammed the buzzers back and forth really hard.. It was like he was trying to grind out my hair, rather than cut it. I am pretty sure the buzzers were too dirty to cut, anways. Teacher kept sayign "cow lick" over and over until she cleaned up the back of my neck and i gave her the tip i was supposed to split between my haircutter and Beth's nail painter.

Saturday Beth and I started moving into our new place. It is 2 BR, 1 BA, Kitchen, dining room, and huge living room separated by the rest of the rooms by two steps. The entire place is hardwood floors. The house manager is upstairs. When we came to see the place and sign the lease, we were taken into her place, which has a stairway entrance that is right next to our living room windows. So when we walk by her door, the window right next to it has our stuff in it, and sometimes Beth. It's confusing.

So far we have made 11 trips to and from Arapahoe. The hardest parts were the couch, sewing machine, and kitchen stuff which leaked syrup and rootbeer popsicle drips all over other food stuff. Charlene made it over on the last trip and spent the night in the dining room.

Saturday we went to Home Depot to get our keys copied and were sort of just wandering around looking for rags or towels. This young lady came up to us in Home Depot clothes and asked us if we would be so kind to help with a secret shopper thing. So basically she had a cart loaded up with soil, pots, and miscellaneous junk. The manager wanted us to go to check-out stand 1 and see if this cashier would catch the stuff that was stuck between the layers of stuff. Also we would get 10% off for helping out. I was sorta nervous but of course it was super fun. Turns out the cashier just magic wanded our stuff and read off our total without double checking. The manager poped out from around the corner just as I was supposed to pay. Check out girl wasn't that bummed that she was caught, but she did say "you guys suck" - not sure if that was directed at me and Beth or manager.

We also went to get a fish tank stand at St. Vincent, but nothing was really wide or tall enough - but something to be close enough. Beth and I weren't sure it would hold up a 30 gallon tank, so we sat on it and eventually crushed the whole thing after giving a little bounce. We both were sort of wedged into the frame for a little while. Some guy sort of walked around us, trying to get a better look at a lampshade.

They have a new soup at Olive Garden.

This last weekend I went to Illinois to visit my parents and grandma's.
I was next door at my grandma's for a while, until she started telling me to give her ten dollars. She had a $50 bill, but didnt want to give it all up. So I didnt really want any money, so i went back next door to have dinner w/ my parents. My dad made sizzlin steaks. Then we were watching the Serena vs. Yelena in that amazing final and I heard smush, smush, smush, and my grandma w/ no cane came flying aroudn the corner and handed me the $50. You think she would know better about the no shoe policy. Later, she told us about how her beautician hired a new shampooer and they do a bad job cause they mostly scrub the bottom. Also, when presented w/ a glass of water following her appointment, the glass was only 1/2 full.

My window fell out of my wall, so I called the landlord's assistant. She custom ordered me a window and had it installed. The repairman managed to install a ton of dirt on my carpet and a pile of screws on my side-table. They also left me the old window as back up.
